Expert Group on Financialisation
and Blended Finance
in Global Health

Who we are

This group has been formed in response to the growing importance of financial actors and instruments in the health sector, and the recognition that policy-makers, professionals and other stakeholders need a better understanding of health sector financialisation and the push to fill public financing shortfalls with finance capital.

It is convened by UNU Global Health, the University of Glasgow and Deakin University, and gathers individuals from a wide range of universities and organisations around the world.

What we do

We seek to:

  • Pool expertise on financialisation, blended finance arrangements and public-private partnerships;
  • Provide a repository of information, research, and evidence for policy-makers, health professionals organisations, civil society groups and journalists;
  • Promote policies and guidelines that will advance the public interest, reduce inequities and optimise health sector efficiency;
  • Present alternative solutions to current public financing gaps.
